The Cherry Orchard

The Cherry Orchard

by Anton Chekhov in an English version by Tom Stoppard

Wednesday 8th November to Saturday 11th November 2017 at 7.30pm

Widely recognised as a landmark in the history of theatre, Chekhov's last play is both a nostalgic portrait of a family facing ruin and a prophetic warning for a country on the brink of traumatic events.

Touched with sadness and regret for the past, while struggling to understand an uncertain future, the dilemmas faced by Chekhov's characters still resonate today. With Russian society moving inexorably towards the revolution of 1917, Tom Stoppard's new translation of The Cherry Orchard is an illuminating blend of unexpected comedy and poignant tradgedy.
