This was a rare opportunity to see Brecht and Weill’s most famous collaboration. In this play Brecht creates a world of beggars, thieves and prostitutes in which there is no honour – betrayals abound as new alliances are formed among the array of seedy, colourful characters.

Weill’s score is jazzy, syncopated, dissonant and full of inventive melody. ‘I was aroused straightaway by the raw intensity of the songs’ says Bob Dylan.

‘The Threepenny Opera’ has been called the greatest musical of all time!
